Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is world famous for hosting more than half of the world’s surviving population of endangered mountain gorillas. It lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley and it promises a scenic and wildly diverse ecosystem. Lake Bunyoyi, on the other hand, is one of the country’s natural treasures. It boasts of 29 beautiful islands with “Punishment Island” as its major highlight, and it offers culinary delight that you would want to come back for.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

You are expected to arrive a day early or perhaps very early in the morning as you will be transported to the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on your first day. The drive will take you southwest of Uganda by road, cross the Equator then take a quick stop at Mbarara for a lunch. The drive will also take you through the beautiful Kigezi Highlands, otherwise referred to as “the Switzerland of Uganda”, and through vast banana plantations before you finally arrive the gorilla sanctuary of Bwindi National Park. Once you arrive, you can do a bit of activity and check in to your private lodge or tented camp as you have to get ready for your exciting trek the next day.

Gorilla Trekking Expedition

After an early breakfast and a briefing by a ranger guide, you will start your gorilla trekking Uganda adventure. The time and terrain taken will vary with the movements of the great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored. After that thrilling expedition, you will go back to your lodge and have a sumptuous lunch. Afterwards, you will leave for Lake Bunyonyi. Make sure you’ve charged your cameras well. The trip is going to be very scenic – almost magical, even.

Lake Bunyonyi then Entebbe

You will have breakfast in a relaxing spot amidst the gorgeous landscape of Lake Bunyonyi. You can also swim in the lake and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. Then, you will depart for Entebbe. You will either be brought to Entebbe airport or to your booked hotel.
